1. FEP cannot be bonded by hot melt? The English name of FEP chemicals: Tetrafluoroethylene-hexafluoropropylene copolymer or Fluororesin-46, abbreviation: FEP or F46. Polyperfluoroethylene propylene resin F46 (FEP) is a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene. It has good thermal stability, outstanding chemical inertness, excellent electrical insulation and low friction coefficient. It can be processed by thermoplastic processing methods. Processing. F46 resin not only has similar characteristics to PTFE, but also has good processing properties of thermoplastics.
The molecular structure of FEP is the same as that of polytetrafluoroethylene. It is also a fully fluorinated structure. The difference is that part of the fluorine atoms in the main chain of F46 are replaced by trifluoromethyl (-CF3).
Chemically: it is stable to almost all chemicals and solvents
Thermally: The continuous use temperature of PTFE and PFA is 260 degrees, and the continuous use temperature of FEP is 200 degrees.
Mechanically: the smallest coefficient of friction and tightness
Electrical: In the insulator, it has a smaller dielectric constant and dielectric loss factor
Others: non-adhesive, weather resistance, flame resistance, low temperature resistance
Time of invention: PTFE -> FEP -> PFA
Hot-melt is generally used as a hot-melt connection. The principle of hot-melt connection is to close the mating surfaces of two FEP pipes to a heating tool to heat their flat end surfaces until they melt. After removing the heating tool, put the two molten end surfaces close to each other. Together, keep the joints cool under the action of pressure, so that the two sections of pipeline are connected as a whole operation.
Note: FEP is hot-melted, only FEP material can be hot-melted with FEP, the same sex will be melted, but the opposite sex will repel each other.
FEP physical performance table:
FEP not only has properties similar to PTFE, but also has good processing properties of thermoplastics. Therefore, it makes up for the deficiencies of the difficult processing of PTFE, making it a material to replace PTFE, and is widely used in the production of wires and cables for electronic equipment transmission wires used under high temperature and high frequency, and internal connections in electronic computers. Insulation layer of wires, aerospace wires and special purpose installation wires, oil pump cables and winding wires of submersible motors.
Its main purpose is to make the inner layer of pipes and chemical equipment, the surface of the drum, and various wires and cables, such as aircraft hook wires, booster cables, alarm cables, flat cables and oil well logging cables. FEP film has been used as a thin coating for solar collectors. Mainly used in communication cables, wires, semiconductors, chemical corrosion protection, medical materials, automobiles, industrial coatings and other fields.
In addition, it can be used as a corrosive liquid and gas conveying pipe, lining pipe, heat exchanger pipe and liquid level gauge. At the same time, it can be used as wires, cables and electrical components used at various frequencies.

2. Is the Teflon tube anticorrosive?
Fluoroplastics was founded in 1934. Schloffer and Scherer discovered polychlorotrifluoroethylene (PCTFE). DuPont discovered polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) in 1938 and realized industrialization in 1949. Then the British ICI, Germany's Hoechst, Japan's Daikin Industry, Italy's Montefluos, etc. have been put into production one after another. my country's fluoroplastics were successfully developed in 1958, and they were first industrialized in Shanghai.
Teflon is the common name, the scientific name is polytetrafluoroethylene (English abbreviation is Teflon or [PTFE, F4]). Polytetrafluoroethylene is a resin with various excellent characteristics and high functions.
Chemically: it is stable to almost all chemicals and solvents
Thermally: The continuous use temperature of PTFE and PFA is 260 degrees, and the continuous use temperature of FEP is 200 degrees.
Mechanically: smaller friction coefficient and tightness
Electrical: In the insulator, it has a smaller dielectric constant and dielectric loss factor
Others: non-adhesive, weather resistance, flame resistance, low temperature resistance
Time of invention: PTFE -> FEP -> PFA
Polytetrafluoroethylene is a high molecular compound formed by polymerization of tetrafluoroethylene. Because it is a high molecular polymer, it is non-toxic. Teflon has excellent chemical stability and corrosion resistance (it is one of the best corrosion resistance materials in the world today.
In addition to molten alkali metal, chlorine trifluoride, chlorine pentafluoride and liquid fluorine, polytetrafluoroethylene can withstand all other chemicals. Boiling in aqua regia does not change, and is widely used in various applications that require resistance to acids, alkalis and organic solvents.
The Teflon tube has airtightness, high lubrication, non-stick, electrical insulation, good aging resistance, and excellent temperature resistance (it can work for a long time at a temperature of +260°C to -180°C).
3. How about the hardness of Teflon?
Recently, many customers asked me, how is the hardness of the Teflon tube? Is the Teflon tube a hard tube or a hose? Here I want to give you a professional explanation.
First of all, you need to know what a Teflon tube is. Tubes basically have intuitive images, what about Teflon?

Teflon is a common name, the scientific name is polytetrafluoroethylene (English abbreviation is Teflon or [PTFE, F4]), it is praised/commonly known as "Plastic King", also known as "Teflon" and "Teflon" (teflon), "Teflon", "Teflon", "Teflon" and so on. It is a polymer compound formed by polymerization of tetrafluoroethylene.
The color of PTFE is milky white, which can produce color, but the defect is that it cannot be made transparent. Alternatives to transparent are polyvinylidene fluoride (ptfe) and fep (soluble polyvinylidene fluoride). Teflon is a hose with a Shore hardness of D55.
The PTFE tube is extruded with high-quality plunger. It adopts a special processing technology to make the steel pipe and the plastic tube tightly combined. It can withstand a positive pressure of 1.6Mpa, a negative pressure: 77Kpa; it can be at -60℃~+260 Normal use within ℃, with reliable and excellent corrosion resistance, transport strong corrosive gas and liquid at high temperature.
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) has excellent chemical stability, can withstand all strong acids, strong alkalis, and strong oxidants, and does not interact with various organic solvents. PTFE has a wide operating temperature range. It can be used for a long time at -180℃~250℃ under normal pressure. After 1000h of treatment at 250℃, its mechanical properties will change little. PTFE has a very low friction factor, is a good anti-friction, self-lubricating material, its static friction coefficient is less than the dynamic friction coefficient, so it has the advantages of low starting resistance and smooth running when used to make bearings. Because PTFE is non-polar, heat-resistant and non-absorbent, it is an excellent electrical insulating material. It also has excellent aging resistance, non-stickiness and non-combustibility.
Various profiles and parts made of PTFE, such as bars, tubes, films, bearings, gaskets, valves, etc., are widely used in machinery, chemical industry, aviation, electrical and electronics, defense industry, cutting-edge technology, medical and health, and electrical insulation And other fields.
